To better help our maintenance department with our new No Trailer Hitch Policy, we now have Documented Vehicle Warnings slips out on the boats. Realistically, we Captain and Crew will notice vehicles trailer hitches only after they already on the boat. The best thing we can do at that point is notify the driver the hitch must be removed before they’re next crossing with us. Now when we give those warnings, we can document the time and day, as well as information on the vehicle. This will help us recognize if we have a repeat offender who is unwilling to follow our policies.

I appreciate all the work you all do out there already, so I’ve designed these slips to be as easy/quick to use as possible. Once completed, they can be dropped off in the office mail slot just like other forms. Before using one of these new slips, please keep the following in mind:

  1. These are new and will likely change. If you feel something important is missing, or have any other input please let me know.

2.  These are not to be used in a threatening or bullying way. We will never mention these slips to the passenger as part of a warning given. They will only be taken out after the conversation has been had.

3. We can be transparent. If we do give a passenger a warning and they see us filling out one of these forms,  we can disclose that we are “ just documenting the conversation for our records.”

If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.
