The Balboa Island Ferry is part of Newport Beach’s Paramedic Subscription Program. This means that the Ferry pays a monthly fee, and in return there is no charge for ambulance visits to either 410 S. Bayfront or 401 Palm St

In the event someone on or off the Ferry is injured and refuses medical help, we should assume that there is a strong chance they are refusing help for fear of the financial cost of the paramedic visit. We can absolutely disclose the Paramedic Subscription Program and assure them there will be no charge to have the paramedics visit and evaluate them.

We should also be clear that if the paramedics recommend they go with them to the hospital, that will still be up to them to take care of with their insurance.
