Policy: Filming, Photography, and Media Activity
Policy:
Professional filming, photography, and media interviews are not permitted without prior written authorization from Ferry management. Authorized filming must comply with all safety, staffing, and insurance requirements outlined in the Filming Agreement.
Definition of “Professional” Filming:
A reasonable observer may consider filming or photography “professional” when any of the following apply:
- The individuals being filmed or the camera operators appear to be hired, employed, or otherwise compensated.
- Specialized or multiple cameras, tripods, lighting, booms, microphones, reflectors, or other production equipment are being used.
- The filming involves direction, staging, or repeated takes.
- The filming involves news media or interviews.
- The filming obstructs public access, safety zones, or interferes with crew operations.
Crew Instructions:
- If you suspect professional or media activity, politely notify the individual that professional filming requires prior permission.
- Notify the Captain or Dock Supervisor immediately.
- Do not attempt to physically stop filming or remove equipment unless instructed by management.
- Treat all parties courteously and direct them to contact management for authorization.
Signs of Professional Activity (Crew Quick Guide):
- Multiple people coordinating or rehearsing shots.
- Tripods, gimbals, booms, reflectors, lighting rigs.
- External microphones or camera crews with badges.
- Interviews or posed scenes involving customers or staff.
